Wetlands

Wetlands are areas that are covered by salt and/or fresh water. There are different types of wetlands: marshes, swamps, bogs, and fens.

  • What is similar or different when comparing wetlands to woodlands?

  • What happens if there is a flood or if there is not enough rain/ snow?

•    What kind of wetland is at IDS? How do you know?
•    How can wetlands help to protect the environment?
•    How does climate change affect the wetlands?

Wildlife: 

Mammals, birds, fish, and invertebrates.

Benefits: 

Filters out pollutants in water, storm protection and flood control (provides an area for water to move and slow down), and recreation.
